Dear Journal

“This is me, grew up in church, raised on the gospel, trained in the word… Life hit me hard, more than I planned, it knocked me down like an avalanche.”

These are lyrics from Dan Bremnes’ song, Where the Light Is. At the moment, they feel like they describe me very well.

I’m still following God right now, and I don’t plan to turn away. Mom is doing better and she’s not afraid, and she doesn’t believe it’s God will for her to die. So I accept that.

I’m eighteen and I have a strong family around me. My stepdad, my grandma, my sister (for those of you who have heard me say that I’m an only child, she’s my wonderful half-sister). Whatever happens, I’m okay.
