Scripture Collection 3: Inheritance

After we become believers in Christ, it’s so easy to think "I’m done with this whole following God thing until I get to heaven." But in reality, God has so much more for us!

When we give our lives to God, He adopts us into His spiritual family of believers, and we become His children. Fathers love to give good gifts to their children, and our Heavenly Father is no exception.

Let’s look at some of the gifts God has given us as His children. As we read these verses, let's remember to truly walk out our faith as dearly loved children of God!

See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called His children, and such we are. ~ 1 John 3:1

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us. ~ Ephesians 1:7-8

Having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance. ~ Ephesians 1:13-14

So, as those who have been chosen of Christ, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone, just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

~ Colossians 3:12-13

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him. ~ Colossians 2:6

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life is begun!

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. ~ Galatians 2:20

Now you are no longer a slave, but God’s own child. And since you are His child, God has made you His heir. ~ Galatians 4:7

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore, keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. ~ Galatians 5:1
