Meet the Characters
Hero. Mentor. Ally. Love. Villain.
These are the characters I use to explain the purpose of each character. If you're looking for answers about a specific role, just scroll to their picture and click the button under their description!

The Hero
Joe
Joe is the hero of his story. He likes to be in charge of things, but he’s loyal and always happy to have a friend along too.
He wears gray tennis shoes, jeans, a white shirt, and a denim jacket. He has brown eyes and windblown brown hair.
He loves jogging, coffee, traveling, and can make an adventure out of something as simple as a walk through the park… which isn’t always a good thing!

The Mentor
Ken
Ken is Joe’s mentor and little brother. He is a clever worker with his hands who became blind after a bombing attack on the place where he helped build aircraft and who is still ambitious enough to go to college.
He wears blue tennis shoes, gray sweatpants, a red hoodie, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
He enjoys learning about the Wright Brothers, building legos, taking long walks, and is very patient when it comes to learning to work with his guide dog, Margie, and read Braille.

The Ally
Sam
Sam is Joe’s ally in whatever he tries to accomplish. Most often, he’s using his medical skills to mend Joe’s cuts and bruises and figuring out new ways to carry more tissues and medicine for his own seasonal allergies.
He wears white sneakers, jeans, a gray turtleneck sweater, an old tricorne with an ostrich plume, and has green eyes and soft, windblown black hair.
He is shy, but loyal, and though he seems naive at first glance, is very thoughtful and a genius at making friends of people and animals… a trait which often serves him well in life.

The Love
Tara
Tara is Joe’s love-interest. She is a little bossy, but appreciates Joe’s ability to stand up to her and enjoys Sam’s quiet company when she’s tired of her own noise.
She wears hiking boots, jeans, a blue t-shirt, and keeps her long wheat-blonde hair tied back in a ponytail.
She likes big crowds and is usually willing to get what she wants politely… even if she has to stand in line for three hours straight!

The Villain
Ed
Ed is the villain of Joe’s story. He’s a philosophical soul who would rather be in his country library reading Plato than dashing after Golden Scrolls in the mountains, but his grandfather’s word is law and the bad-luck Scroll must be destroyed.
He wears black loafers, dark gray slacks, a comfortable green blazer, white dress shirt, and has blond hair and soulful dark blue eyes.
He appreciates poetry, nature, and has a Romantic-era streak in him of the line of Emerson.
